Maksym Lavrynovych (born 1 October 1978, in Kyiv) – managing partner at Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm, one of the leading law firms in Ukraine.

Member of Ukrainian National Bar Association (UNBA), Ukrainian Arbitration Association (UAA), active member of the European Business Association (ЕВА) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (АСС).

Education[edit]

In 2000, Maksym Lavrynovych graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Was qualified as a Master of International Law and a Bachelor of International Relations.

Career[edit]

1999-2000 – a lawyer at the Komanda newspaper;

2000-2001 – a lawyer at the Yurservice Consulting law firm;

2001 – obtained the Attorney's Bar Certificate.

2001-2004 – worked as a senior associate in the Tax and Legal Department of Arthur Andersen (became Ernst & Young in 2002), in which he managed groups of lawyers serving large Ukrainian and international companies, including those from the Fortune 500, in the following practices: finance law, banking law, corporate and investment law, antimonopoly, litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.

Since 2004 – founder and managing partner at Lavrynovych & Partners Law Firm, one of the leading law firms in Ukraine. The firm provides legal services in Ukraine and Austria to multinational and Ukrainian companies.

The firm offers legal support related to various practices, including investment law, finance law, corporate law, competition law, judicial practice, mergers & acquisitions, business protection, antitrust law and private law. Among the firm’s clients are transnational corporations and Ukrainian financial and industrial groups, including the following: ExxonMobil, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, Winner Imports Ukraine, Danone-Unimilk Ukraine, Louis Dreyfus Company, JTI, All-Ukrainian Securities Depository, Kyivstar, UniCredit Bank, EastOne Group, Seven Hills and CDMA UA.

2010-2015 – led a group of legal advisors who service the external public debt of Ukraine.

2016-present – speaker at a law school for attorneys, Leadership in Law, specializing in practical education for lawyers and law business founders in Ukraine.

2017-present – speaker at an independent educational program, Real Law School, aimed at fostering the professional development of law students and practitioners.

Badge of Honor of the High Council of Justice of Ukraine (2009);

Listed in “100 The Best Top Managers of Ukraine” according to Ekonomika Communication Hub rating (2009-2010);

Received an "Outstanding Lawyer of Ukraine" honorary title by the Union of Lawyers of Ukraine (2011)[1];

The leader of the "The Best Top Managers of Ukraine. Tactics and Strategy” rating by the Rating Top 100 research center (2011);

Received a "Lawyer of the Year" title in the "Lawyer–Representative of a Private Law Firm" nomination (2011)[2]

Received a "Lawyer of the Year" title according to the all-Ukrainian annual award "Person of the Year" (2014)[3]

The international rating study, The Legal 500: Europe, Middle East & Africa, recommended Maksym Lavrynovych in corporate law, M&A, taxes and dispute resolution (2013-2016) and in the field of commercial, corporate law and M&A (2017) [4].

The international research, The Best Lawyers™ in Ukraine 2018, recognizes Maksym Lavrynovych in the fields of Corporate Law and International Arbitration (first year recognized in Corporate Law: 2013; first year recognized in International Arbitration: 2016).

According to the results of the research conducted by Yurydychna Gazeta, Maksym Lavrynovych is included in the list "The Choice of the Client. Top 100 Best Lawyers of Ukraine" (2015-2016) and, in 2017, was noted among the best lawyers in investment law.

Social activity[edit]

1990 – one of the founders and the first participants of Plast, the Ukrainian scout movement in Kyiv. 

1997 – co-founder of the Center for Political Studies of the Institute of International Relations. 

2009-2011 – Vice-President of the all-Ukrainian public organization, Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA)[5]

2014 – founded the Central Legal Clinic – a social project that aims to provide free legal assistance and advice to individuals.
