Malalasekara Dictionary (Sinhala:මලලසේකර ශබ්දකෝෂය, Tamil: மலலசேகர அகராதி) is a English to Sinhala Dictionary (Sri Lanka) written by Gunapala Piyasena Malalasekera (G.P.Malalasekara). The book was released by D.P.Malalasekara in 1948. The original publisher of the book is belonging to M.D.Gunasena Publishers. there are over 2000 pages and over 40000 words meanings. Malalasekara Dictionary is the highest selling dictionary island wide in the country Sri Lanka.[1][2][3][4]

Gunapala Piyasena Malalasekera (G.P.Malalasekara) is a author and religious leader of religion Buddhist. He had a special knowledge about the languages of Sinhala Sanskruta, Pali Sanskruta, English, Tamil. The author Gunapala Piyasena Malalasekera (G.P.Malalasekara) had written lots of books about Religion Buddhism, Historical books, and Malalasekara Dictionary. The book of Malalasekara Dictionary was published in the year of 1948 in Panadura, Colombo(Author's Hometown). Out of English to Sinhala Dictionaries in Sri Lanka Malalasekara Dictionary is the best selling performance showed dictionary in every years so far. The book was consisted by over 40000 words and over 2000 pages.[5][6][7][8][9]

Gunapala Piyasena Malalasekara[edit]

Gunapala Piyasena Malalasekara was the author of this book. He was a famous talented author in the period of English ruling of Sri Lanka, He was born on 8th November 1899 and he died in 23rd April 1973. He was talented in many languages, out of them Sinhala Sanskruta, Pali Sanskruta, English, Tamil having a major place of his knowledge.[10][11][12][13][14]
