Malcolm McCulloch was a South African born engineer and academic. An advocate for, and researcher into sustainable energy, electric and hydrogen powered vehicles, renewable generation and distributed electrification.[1] McCulloch moved to Oxford in 1993, establishing the Energy and Power Group within the Department of Engineering Science.[2]
Research
Domestic energy
He was Co-Director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy[3], which led to set up of Navetas Energy Management, an Oxford University spin-out that undertakes state of the art pattern recognition research to provide consumers of all types with better energy usage information.
Renewable generation
He worked with Low Carbon Hub - a social enterprise managing 24.3MW installed capacity of renewable energy projects, and with Project LEO - Local Energy Oxfordshire, bringing his experience to these projects.[4]
He was a director of Kepler Energy, a developer of Tidal stream generator systems.[5]
