Dr. Malcolm Xavier Adams (born March 10, 1980) is an economist, entrepreneur, and educator who won the Democratic primary for the Georgia House of Representatives District 112 in June 2020.[1].
Personal Life
Dr. Adams was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, the oldest of five sons. His mother enlisted in the US Army after divorcing Malcolm’s father and raised her three sons as a single mom in Hanau, Germany.[2]
Malcolm faced social challenges resulting from his Asperger syndrome[3] and he is an advocate for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
He experienced many hardships as a young adult, including being homeless from the ages of 17–21.
Career
As an Economist
He is a member of the International Association for Energy Economics[4]. Malcolm holds a certification in Systems Engineering, Business, and IT Strategy Alignment. He has lectured at several academic institutions (such as St. Louis University) and has received national accreditation and funding for his curriculum and research. He was recently appointed co-chair of the Banking and Finance Committee of the National Black Chamber of Commerce by Larry Ivory[5]
Adams has garnered the support of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, community development organizations, government officials, various non-profit organizations such as Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation and Washington Street Community Center along with several financial institutions for his nationwide economic development initiative.
Adams possesses Core Competencies and Training from A+ to Excel for Finance, business, and energy economics to an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity. He has been recognized as a thought leader by several academic institutions and is in the process of receiving national accreditation for his own career academy. He has also been trained by OSHA.
He has spoken at schools from elementary to post-secondary levels such as Porterdale Elementary, Orange Grove Middle School, Aiken Technical College, Toombs County High School, and St. Louis University.
As an Entrepreneur
As a serial entrepreneur, his passion for entrepreneurship developed at the age of 8 when he charged his neighbors for taking out their trash. This led to him establishing his own companies.
Adams services government and small-to-large businesses. He specializes in IT R&D and consulting, wealth building, telehealth, real estate investing & mortgage banking.
As an Educator
Dr. Adams' programs and workshops focus on educating youth and adults to become more informed about economic empowerment for themselves and their families.
Adams has launched a nationwide effort to eradicate homelessness, resolve vacancy issues, help veterans transition, and create jobs while scaling small businesses. In this effort, he has taught members of under-served communities in multiple cities to accrue, manage wealth, build businesses, and attain assets via inexpensive means such as real estate and stocks.
