Malik Gant (born May 29, 1997) is an American football safety who is a free agent. He played college football at Marshall University.[1]
Early life and college[edit]
Gant was a safety and cornerback at Woodson High School in Washington, D.C., the same high school as former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich.[2] At Marshall University Gant redshirted his freshmen year, and went on to appear in 12 games as a reserve safety in 2016 as a redshirt freshmen making six tackles. In 2017, Gant would have a breakout season as a redshirt sophomore with 100 tackles and five passes defensed. In 2018, as a redshirt junior Gant made 95 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes defensed.[2]
Professional career[edit]
Gant was signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2019.[3] He was placed on injured reserve on August 31, 2019.[4] On July 26, 2020, Gant was released before training camp opened.[5]
