Maloosak, or Maloosak The Artist, was born on 4 April 1974 in Teheran and is a Swedish artist.

Biography

Maloosak came to Sweden at three and a half years of age and was adopted by a Swedish family in Skellefteå, Sweden [1] where she grew up. She was interested in aestheticism in the early stages of her life.

She studied at Umeå Institute of Design, Art School in Stockholm and then at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm between 1996 and 2003.

She had one of her first solo exhibitions at Berns Salonger in Stockholm in 2001 and a year later at the Nobel Museum.[2] The exhibition Security Risk (Säkerhetsrisk) in the Gummeson Gallery [3] was noted in world media.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Maloosak used a method where she created art by going through the hand baggage security check at airports. Maloosak was the first in the world to do this. Maloosak has reached out with several exhibitions.

Maloosak has also created sculptures.[11] She has produced and directed two art films (Talking Rags and Blind World)[12] and played a role in a Swedish film Dansa först.[citation needed] Maloosak has also had recognised juried exhibitions with her art and art installations, like the exhibition Spring Salon (Vårsalongen) in Liljevalchs konsthall in the year 2005. Her artwork then was a self-designed giant hook including a seat. [13] Political and societal themes are also visible in Maloosak's art and communication.[14]
