Mama's Family is an American situation comedy or sitcom as it is often abbreviated.
Synopsis[edit]
Patriarch Thelma Harper is a "poor, old widow woman who is barely scraping by" as told by the actress Vicki Lawrence who portrays the main character. She is a widow living with her spinster sister Frances "Frannie" or "Fran" Crowley in a small house in small rural community of Raytown. Her son, Vinton Harper, soon finds himself divorced and homeless and needing a place for him and his teenage children to stay. So, he asks his mother Mama Harper if they can move in. She begrudgingly agrees to let them stay temporarily while Vinton comes up a plan to get back on his feet. Little does she know that his "temporary" stay turns into a permanent thing.
