Manda is a small unincorporated community in northeast Travis County, Texas, United States.
History
In 1885, Manda received its first settler, J. V. (Victor) Morell, from New Sweden, Texas. He deployed a steam-powered cotton gin by 1886 and, in the same year, moved a blacksmith shop from New Sweden. Later, he was joined by John Sanders and Aaron Johnson in 1887, and Otto Bengston in 1888.[1]
In 1892, Manda Methodist Church was established; the church served the community until June 1962, when it was discontinued. In 1893, Bengston built a large general store and residence. Also, in the same year, a post office was established in the front part of the store building.[1]
By 1899, telephone lines were extended to Manda.[1]
