Manda is a small unincorporated community in northeast Travis County, Texas, United States.

History[edit]

In 1885, Manda got its first settler J. V. (Victor) Morell from New Sweden, Texas. He deployed a steam-powered cotton gin by 1886 and in the same year moved blacksmith shop from New Sweden. Later, he was joined by John Sanders and Aaron Johnson in 1887, and Otto Bengston in 1888.[1]

In 1892, Manda Methodist Church was established, the church served the community until June 1962, when it was discontinued. In 1893 Bengston built a large general store-cum residence. Also, in the same year, a post office was established in the front part of the store building.[1]

By 1899 telephone lines were extended to Manda.[1]
