Mandel Brothers
Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel are three philanthropist brothers. They have donated millions of dollars to Jewish and non-Jewish organizations all over the world and have many schools, organizations, and buildings named after them.
Jack Mandel[edit]
Jack Mandel (July 16, 1911 – May 12, 2011) was the oldest one of the Mandel brothers. He was born in Poland in 1911. He also had a sister. When he was 8, his family immigrated from Europe to Cleveland. The move was in 1920. He attended Glenville High School where he graduated in 1929.[1] He met Lilyan soon after and they got married. They had a son and a daughter. He and his brothers created the Premier Automotive Supply Company. He and his brothers, Morton and Joseph made millions and millions of dollars from the company. He was a major philanthropist in Cleveland, Israel, and around the world. Jack died on May 12, 2011, two months before his 100th birthday.[2] He is survived by his brothers, his son, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces nephews.
Joseph Mandel[edit]
Joseph Mandel is the middle of the three Mandel brothers. He is one of the oldest living philanthropists in the world. He was born in the early 1910s in Europe. He also immigrated from Europe at a young age. His family struggled financially. He shared a room with his two brothers. He did not know that one day he could easily afford giving millions of his dollars away.[3] With his brothers, he bought an auto shop from his uncle. This move ended being extremely successful for him. Even at 102, he and his foundation still give millions of dollars to Jewish organizations around the world. A recent donation was to the Agnon School, which is now known as the Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School after a donation of over $17 Million from his foundation.[3] Some of his Great Grandchildren go to the Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School. He lives in Florida.
Morton Mandel[edit]
Morton Mandel (born on September 19, 1921) is the youngest of the Mandel brothers. He was born in Cleveland. He is currently a billionaire. He is 94 and is 8 years younger than Joe. He had to wear hand me downs as a child because of his family’s financial struggles. Morton was in the military during World War II. Morton, along with his brothers bought his uncle’s auto shop. Their business, the Premier Automotive Supply Company grew and grew and they made millions and millions of dollars off it. After selling the company, he and his brothers made nearly $1 Billion. He is one of the richest people in Cleveland. Morton is one of the most well known entrepreneurs in Ohio. He is also one of the most well known Philanthropists in Ohio. The Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Foundation has donated millions of dollars to Jewish organizations in Ohio, Israel, and Florida. One of the largest donations the Mandel Foundation has given is the 2013 donation to Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design of $25 Million. He has had three kids with his wife, Barbara and is an Uncle, Great Uncle, and a Great-Great Uncle.[citation needed]
