Mandu Reid (born January 1981)[1] [2] is a political activist who is the first person of colour to lead a UK political party[3][4]. She is leader of the Women's Equality Party (WE) in the United Kingdom.[5][6][7][8]
Early life[edit]
Reid was born in Malawi in Africa, and moved to London when she was aged 18.[6]
Career[edit]
In 2015[6] she founded The Cup Effect NGO (Non Governmental Organisation) and not-for-profit social enterprise.
Women's Equality Party[edit]
She was first appointed as interim leader on International Women's Day 2019[9] replacing founding leader, Sophie Walker, who resigned in January 2019.[10] Her appointment as leader was confirmed in January 2020.[11]
