The Maniema campaign was fought between October and November of 1892 between the Force Publique and the Arab-Swahili sultanates in Eastern Congo. The Force Publique army led by Francis Dhanis, consisted of a few dozen Belgian officers and several thousand African auxiliaries.[2] Sefu Bin Hamid had set up a fort on the Lomami River, and by November the Force Publique had successfully besieged and captured the fort.
