Manitoba Public Statecasting, also branded as Manitoba Channel and Manitoba ETV, is a Canadian publicly funded educational cable television network serving the province of Manitoba from the city of Winnipeg and its primary suburbs. It is owned by Manitoba Public Statecasting Inc., a crown corporation of the Government of Manitoba, and began broadcasting on January 12, 1981. The station was managed and operated by volunteers, and received equipment and technical support from Vidéotron. Programming included coverage of local and special events, educational, recreational and public affairs programs, news and sportscasts, and simulcasts of Télé-Université. It receives funding from viewer donations, provincial grants, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, workplace contracts based on original productions, and gifts obtained from various businesses within the provincial industry.
