Manlio Celotti

Manlio Celotti is a German-South African record label executive. He is the current CEO of Membran Entertainment Group and the Managing Director of The Orchard.[1]

Life and Career[edit]

Celotti began his music career in Cape Town as a sound engineer. In 1989, Celotti launched EWM Entertainment GmbH and Newmusic Publishing GmbH. Under these indie distributors, Celotti managed artists including Fettes Brot, Der Tobi & das Bo, Die Sterne, and Tocotronic.[2] In 1995, Celotti started serving as a consultant under Manlio Celotti Consulting (MCC) to European distributors and labels. Clients included BMG and Semaphore. Since 2001, MCC GmbH has been trading under the brand name New Entertainment Options (NEO).

Membran Entertainment Group[edit]

In 2010, Music Alliance Membran acquired NEO, and Celotti succeeded Jürgen Jacobsen as CEO of the new Membran Entertainment Group. With Membran, Celotti has signed with artists including Joss Stone and Gregory Porter, and has collaborated with Dave Stewart since 2015.[3]

In 2016, Quincy Jones’ management company approached Celotti to distribute and market Jacob Collier's album “In My Room”, which won two Grammys.[4] The same year, Membran signed a collaborative deal with Kevin Morrow’s Steel Wool Entertainment.[5] Through this collaboration, Celotti distributed Anderson .Paak’s “Venice” and “Malibu” albums worldwide.[6]

The Orchard GmbH[edit]

Membran Entertainment Group and The Orchard entered into a mutual service agreement in 2015, and Celotti became Managing Director of The Orchard GmbH while continuing as CEO of Membran Entertainment Group GmbH.[7] In 2017, The Orchard acquired German distributor finetunes and Norwegian digital distributor Phonofile; Celotti oversees these operations under The Orchard Europe.[8][9]

Columnist[edit]

Celotti contributes regularly to Bilanz Magazine, the business supplement of one of Germany's largest newspapers Die Welt.[10] He writes about topics involving new technology and the music industry.[11][12]
