Manoj Kumar Sah (Nepali: मनोज कुमार साह) is a Nepali politician belonging to Nepali Congress. He is the current mayor of Janakpur Sub-metrpolitan City, which remains the capital city of Madhesh province and ancient capital of King Janak's Mithila state.[1] Sah was directly elected from the 2022 Nepalese local elections winning 13,465 votes to 9,532 of his nearest rival.[2][3]
Political life[edit]
He joined the Nepali Congress party in 1989.[4] Sah is a close confidant of former Deputy Prime minister and Home minister Bimalendra Nidhi.[5] While Janakpur mayor ticket was given to Lal Kishor Sah of People's Socialist Party, Nepal by governing alliance, he had given independent candidacy and continued the trend of independent Congress man win in Janakpur.[6]
Under his leadership the party won majority in municipal council while Sah himself won with a margin of 4,000 votes on 23 May 2022. Later he joined back Congress party on 25 May 2022 after being requested by senior leaders of Nepali Congress.[7][8][9]
