Manon Lucy Mathews (born October 22, 1988) is an American comedian, actress, and social media personality. She is best known for her videos on Vine and her appearances in film and television.[1][2]
Childhood and education
Manon was born and reared in Los Angeles. She studied theatre, dance, and film production at Santa Barbara City College. [1]
Career
She began her professional career at Second City Conservatory, the Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade.[1]
Mathews first rose to prominence on the video app Vine where she ultimately amassed a fan base of over 3,000,000 followers and accrued over 1,400,000,000 loops until Vine was unceremoniously shuttered. She became one of the USA's top performing members of the burgeoning subset of online entertainers known as 'Vine Stars' that dominated the app before it became defunct.[1][3][4] 2 years in a row Manon was a Shorty Awards finalist for Viner Of The Year.[5]
After Vine was bought out and discontinued, Mathews pivoted into a career in acting and comedy.[6]
Comedy
Manon Mathews is an alumnus of The Second City Training Center in Hollywood where she was a member of the Conservatory Program. She also studied at The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade, also in Los Angeles, where Mathews was raised.
Known for her multi-colored eyes and tendency to portray loud, abrasive, and hideously off-putting characters in spite of her conventionally good looks, Mathews gained a reputation as a bold and unique talent who had no qualms making a fool of herself. Trademarks of Mathews include her characters Bunny, Ruthie, Delilah, Mrs. Grinch, and Mirth, as well as her popular impersonations of actresses Kristen Stewart, Kristin Cavallari, Anna Faris,[7] Shakira, and superhero Wonder Woman.
Another of Mathew's trademarks was her tendency to beg people to 'look at her ass,' which was a bit inspired by the pattern of her buttocks typically causing quite a reaction in her Vines, with people adoring it for its shapeliness and appeal. Mathews would willingly lean into this and play off of her butt's popularity to comedic effect, which became a significant part of her comedic persona. [8] She also has coined the term "look at my tit-tays" in reference to her breasts.
As a stand-up comedian, she has appeared at Dad's Garage in Atlanta, Georgia,[9] SF Sketchfest,[10] and the 2018 Montreal Just For Laughs Festival,as part of its 'New Faces Of Comedy' program. [11]
Acting
After her successes with Vine, Mathews has gone on to have a successful career in television in film. To date, she has been featured in the television programs Broad City[12] Average Joe,[13] had a supporting roles in Single by 30,[14] Sorry Not Sorry,[15] and starred in Xfinity's original series Off Script,[16] as Emily Frankel.
She appeared as supporting actress in the feature films Welcome to Forever,[17] FML,[18] and starred as Chloe in Holiday Breakup,[19][3] which was written and directed by her father, Temple Mathews. She has also appeared in “Broad City,” Single By 30″, and “Sorry Not Sorry”. [3]
She played the character of "Groundhog Day" in 48 Hour Film Project submission Holiday Inn.[20]
As a talent, she has appeared in advertisements for Bud Light, who tapped her to create original content for them, even during Super Bowl Sunday. She has also partnered with brands such as T-Mobile, JBL Speakers, and Master Card.[21]

Personal life
Mathews has frequently collaborated with her best friend Hannah Pilkes, as well as other known personalities Sunny Mabrey, Brittany Furlan, Bobby Lee, Marlo Meekins, Heidi Heaslet, Jason Nash, and on-again off-again boyfriend Travis Harris.
Mathews is currently engaged to bearded man Stephen Murphy, after dating for three months.[23]
Mathews' father is award winning screenwriter Temple Mathews, who is most known for his contributions to children's cartoons in the 1980s and 1990s featuring such famous characters as Slimer, Mickey Mouse, Peter Pan, and the 101 Dalmatians. Mathews and her Dad really like each other,[24] and she also likes the beach.
