Mantsinen Group Ltd Oy is a Finnish company that manufactures hydraulic material handling machines. The company is based in Ylämylly, Liperi, Finland. Its products are designed for use in ports, and in the forest and steel industries. In addition to manufacturing, Mantsinen provides logistics services in Finland, including timber processing services for pulp and paper mills. The company's products are exported to approximately 50 countries worldwide. In the material handling machinery sector, its main competitors include the German companies Sennebogen and Liebherr.[1][2]
History
The company was founded in 1963, when brothers Veli and Juhani Mantsinen began transporting firewood and logs for the forest industry using a single tractor. Since 1974, the company has been responsible for timber yard operations at Stora Enso's Enocell mill in Uimaharju, including wood reception to feeding into the debarking process. Mantsinen began manufacturing hydraulic material handling machines in the late 1990s.[1][3]
Activities
In addition to Liperi, Mantsinen has operated an assembly unit at the Port of Rauma since 2018. The facility enables the delivery of large equipment to customers by sea as fully assembled units.[4]
Following 25 years of operations in Russia, Mantsinen Group discontinued its export activities to the country after the start of the Russian invasion to Ukraine in 2022. The divestment of its Russian subsidiary was completed in December 2023, after which the company no longer maintained business operations in Russia.[5][6]
