Manucher Azmudeh

Manucher Azmudeh (born 1936) is an Iranian-American engineer, inventor and entrepreneur, known for his contributions to Iran’s oil and gas industry during the 1960s and 1970s and for his subsequent work in commodity trading, commercial real estate, energy and technology in the United States.
Early life and education
Azmudeh grew up in Shiraz, where he completed his secondary education. He later moved to the United States and studied mechanical engineering at Auburn University, graduating in 1960. In 1961, he completed graduate studies at the Institute of Gas Technology, then affiliated with the Illinois Institute of Technology.
While studying at the Institute of Gas Technology, Azmudeh was recruited by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), beginning a career spanning engineering, energy, government, finance and technology.
Career
Azmudeh began his professional career at the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), where he held a series of engineering, project-management and senior executive positions.
From 1960 to 1969, he managed several engineering and project departments. In 1970, he was appointed Director of the Pipeline Projects Division, with responsibility for coordinating major pipeline projects. He remained in the position until 1974.
From 1974 to 1977, Azmudeh served as Senior Deputy Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Government Trade Corporation.
He relocated to the United Kingdom in 1978 and subsequently to the United States in 1980.
In 1980, Azmudeh established Servonet Corporation. Through the company, he obtained memberships on the New York and Chicago commodity exchanges and conducted commodity arbitrage trading.
In 1984, he expanded into commercial real estate, establishing Conejo Valley Development in California and Imperatum Georgia. His developments included corporate campuses for Broadcom Corporation in San Jose, California, and AT&T Technologies in Alpharetta, Georgia, as well as land-development projects in Dallas and Houston, Texas.
In the early 1990s, Azmudeh returned to the oil and gas industry, advising international energy companies and participating in joint ventures with processing and exploration businesses.
During this period, he also studied complexity science, higher math non-linear system behaviours, machine learning, with a particular interest in their application to interconnected systems and subsystems. This work later contributed to his development of multi-algorithm trading systems.
In 2010, Azmudeh returned to technology development, focusing on wind energy systems and the application of complexity science to financial markets.

He is also credited with several engineering innovations, including the early use of aviation turbines in gas pipelines compressor stations, the adaptation of crude-oil-burting turbines utilised as the driving systems of the petroleum products pipelines.
Publications
Azmudeh is currently writing A Treatise on Money Supply, in which he proposes a new framework for the formulation of monetary policy.
Philanthropy
Alongside his wife, Mahvash Azmudeh, he has been involved with cultural and preservation groups, including serving as a trustee for the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach and previously supporting the Iran Heritage Foundation.
