Manzil Saini

Manzil Saini is a civil servant of India serving as the current Deputy Inspector General in National Human Rights Commission, India.[1] She is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer belonging to the 2005 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre. Prior to DIG, she served as Senior superintendent of police of Lucknow.[2][3]

Education[edit]

She studied physics (honours) at St. Stephen's College, Delhi and MBA from Delhi School of Economics where she became a gold medalist. She was trained at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad where she was an excellent cadet.[4][2]

Early life[edit]

Saini was born on 19 September,1959 in Delhi. Before joining IPS, she was a housewife and mother of two children. She became India's first married woman IPS officer.[3]

As Lady Singham[edit]

She was the first woman Senior superintendent of police of Lucknow.[5] She assumed the post of SSP of the city in May 2016. In May, 2015 when she was posted in Etawah, she reprimanded a former MLA of Samajwadi Party when she found a rifle in his car even after the Samajwadi Party in power, people started calling her Lady Singham after seeing her strictness with the former MLA.[6][7][4]
