MapChart is an online map processing website where users can colour in maps to showcase data. The maps can then be downloaded as an image or in a .txt format, which can then be shared with others[1].
Overview
MapChart is split into two websites: MapChart and Historical MapChart, with the former consisting of 61 maps[2] and the latter consisting of 8 maps[3]. Originally, upon release, the website only had three maps (World, Europe and Greece)[4].
The user is greeted with a palette of colours, used to colour in sections on the map (varying depending on what map, such as countries, subdivisions, et cetera). A legend and title are used to label data and such. Other entities in the map can be hidden if not needed and the map can be zoomed in on.

MapChart has been used on many occasions and in different scenarios.
Wikipedia
MapChart maps have been popularly used on Wikipedia — with it even having its own category on Wikimedia Commons[5], with many pages having MapChart maps such as the pages on the Ashanti Region, Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral guests, List of countries by industrial production growth rate, Ibero-American Summit and more on English Wikipedia, however there are other maps on other languages of Wikipedia such as Italian Wikipedia.
TEDx Talk
On a TEDx Talk, a talk by Jonathan Friedman showcased a map used by MapChart in there, in a speech about book censorship by schools in the US.
