From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Marc Ernest Biala (born September 30, 1986), popularly known as “Sir Macoy”, is Mr. Gay World Philippines 2011 and represented the Philippines in the international competition held in Club Mwah, Mandaluyong City, Philippines on March 13, 2011. He won the “Best in National Costume” and “Mr. Popularity” awards. He is also a young Filipino psychiatric nurse, educator, and entrepreneur who is currently CEO and President of All-Star Review Center, a company providing training and reviews to graduates and professionals, and All-Star Publishing House, a publishing company specializing in educational materials. At a young age, he started authoring books, the latest being Dark Secrets of the NLE: The Must-Have Nursing Review Book.

Early life

Biala is the third and youngest son of Ernesto Loy Biala, Jr. (Chinese-Davaoeno), who worked overseas as a computer programmer, and Magdalena Bitongga Biala (Spanish-Ilonggo), a high school teacher. He was born in Bishop Joseph Regan Memorial Hospital, Tagum City, Davao del Norte on September 30, 1986, at exactly 5:55 a.m. via normal spontaneous vaginal delivery. His mother recounted that his father, expecting a baby girl, had prepared pink linens and toys. His siblings are Karen Ann Biala (middle), and Eugene Biala (eldest), who died from a vehicular accident at the age of 14.

He studied at St. Mary’s College for preschool, Magugpo Pilot Central Elementary School for grade school, and Tagum City National High School. He was a consistent honor student and was involved in journalism, desktop publishing, investigatory projects, cooking contests, choir, speech and dramatics, and cadetship.

Career

Biala attended St. Mary’s College in Tagum City to study Nursing. At that time, he considered becoming a scientist, a pilot, or a stage actor. Nevertheless, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007, achieving the first ever magna cum laude in the College of Nursing, and the first ever batch valedictorian from the College of Nursing. In December of the same year, he passed the Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE).

To further his nursing career, Marc moved to Baguio City. While working as a psychiatric nurse at Roseville Park Center, he authored a portion of “Psychiatric Nursing,” used as a reference at St. Louis University, Baguio. His thesis, “Correlates of Resilience and Quality of Life of Family Caregivers of Adults with Severe Mental Illness,” for his Master of Science in Nursing, Major in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing at the same university, earned him a cum laude award.

Biala's mother's career as an educator likely influenced his own interest in teaching. He is a skilled public speaker and performer. A former instructor at St. Louis University and a seasoned national nursing review lecturer, he now runs his own review center (All-Star Review Center – ASRC) and publishing company (All-Star Publishing House – ASPH). He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education at the University of Southern Philippines in Cebu City.

Marc Ernest Biala also passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) in May 2009, the Texas Board of Nursing Jurisprudence Examination in July 2009, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall band score of 8 in August 2009, and the Midwifery Licensure Examination (MLE) in November 2009. He also holds a license in Intravenous (IV) Therapy.

Mr. Gay World Philippines

Biala, who is 5’8” tall, competed with other gay men in the 2011 Mr. Gay World competition, which commenced on March 9 and concluded on March 13 at Club Mwah (one of the most outstanding theater-clubs in Asia) in Mandaluyong City. The event was hosted by Boy Abunda, Wilma Doesnt, and Precious Lara Quigaman.

He is an inspiring individual to young gay men and is determined to make a difference and be an effective spokesperson for other Filipino gay men. He was an ideal candidate to represent the Philippines in this prestigious competition. Biala hoped to contribute to boosting the country’s tourism industry as he served as the Philippines’ ambassador of goodwill during his reign.

During the final night, he was asked if it was possible for a straight man to love a homosexual man, and he answered, “That is possible, but in the event that a straight man falls in love with a gay man, then he too becomes gay, and that is the magic of gender identity and gender diversity.” He made it to the final ten and won the “Best in National Costume” and “Mr. Popularity” awards.
