Marc R. Moon, MD, is an American cardiothoracic surgeon, working in Houston, who was the 101st president of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), succeeding Vaughn A. Starnes and preceding Shaf Keshavjee.[1] Moon assumed his role as the Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine on Febrary 7, 2022, and is also the Denton A. Cooley Chair in Cardiac Surgery and serves as the Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery at The Texas Heart Institute, Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, and Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery section at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center.[2][3] He was previously a professor at Washington University School of Medicine (1998-2022). He is also on the editorial board for The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and The Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery.
