Marco A. Attisani (born 18 May 1972) is a Brazilian-born, Italian transhumanist, serial entrepreneur and TEDx speaker..[1]

Since 9 March 2013 Attisani is the Founder and CEO of Watly, a company that produces solar-powered scalable off-the-grid supercomputers providing clean water, electricity and Internet connectivity. With his venture Attisani was featured on international press, such as Phys.org,[2] IFLS,[3] Quartz[4] and The Daily Telegraph online,[5] Currently, Watly collects sunlight with PV systems and solar thermal evacuated tube collectors, while water purification involves vapour compression distillation. In 2016, Attisani launched Watly's first crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, raising $17,939.[6] They won the European Pioneers awards[7] and Premio Gaetano Marzotto 2015[8] and received fundings from phase 1 and 2 of Instrument Horizon 2020 in 2016,[9] during which they presented part of the prototype Watly 3.0 at Maker Faire in Rome.[10] An episode of Discovery Science's series The Game Changers featured Attisani's life episodes along with Watly's development and field testing in Africa in 2015.[11] In 2017, Marco Antonio Attisani and Watly were hosts of the Italian pavillion in Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan as representatives of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.[12] With Watly, Attisani was also one of the finalists for INDEX: Design to Improve Life 2017 edition, in the Community category.[13] In October 2017, Attisani presented in world-preview the first full-scale Watly 3.0 prototype at Barcolana regatta in Trieste, Italy. Personal life[edit]

Marco Attisani was born in Brazil in 1972, from a Brazilian veterinarian and a lion tamer from Naples working in a circus. Afterwards social assistance entrusted Marco and his brother to the orphanage.[15] At 10 years old he was adopted along with his brother by an Italian family.[16] He considers himself a singularitarian and transhumanist. In 2017 Attisani has been portraied by british photographer Platon representing the 6th of the Sustainable Development Goals "clean water and sanitation" for Lavazza calendar 2018.[17]
