Early Life
Marcos Bernardo Pereira was born on January 5, 1982, in the city of Sorocaba, São Paulo State, Brazil. He is the son of Helena Queiroz Lima and Eloi Bernardo Pereira. He attended public school throughout his basic and secondary education, and took his first steps into technology as a young student when he completed an early computer course using Lotus 1-2-3, marking the beginning of his interest in computing.
Career
Marcos works professionally as a Web Designer, and has participated in several digital projects over the years. In 2021, he conceived the alternative social network Uablo, securing its domain and developing an experimental prototype. Due to personal reasons, the project was temporarily paused and officially relaunched in 2025.
The idea for Uablo came from frustration with traditional social media platforms, where polarizing content and toxic algorithms overwhelmed user feeds. Marcos noticed that even when trying to customize his preferences, he continued to be shown fake news and unwanted posts. Platform responses were always the same: “this content will not be removed.” Faced with this scenario, he set out to create a lighter, safer alternative focused on user control and well-being.
In addition to his work in technology, Marcos is passionate about crafting artisanal liqueurs and beverage syrups, which he pursues as a creative and personal hobby.
Personal Life
He is married to Kátia Chaves Pereira, his greatest supporter, and is the proud father of two children: Marcos Bernardo Pereira Filho and Kerollyn Chaves Pereira, who also actively participate in his day-to-day life and creative projects.
His main interests include technology, artificial intelligence, and digital humanism, with a mission to foster a more ethical and humane internet. His primary hobby is listening to music, particularly 70s, 80s, and 90s flashback and electronic dance music, which fuel his appreciation for rhythm, energy, and nostalgia. He also enjoys watching films as a form of leisure and reflection.
