Biography

Sutkowski works at the Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics of the Warsaw University of Technology. His professional activity focuses on techniques of acquisition, processing, and transformation of traditional and digital images, as well as traditional and digital holography. His scientific research includes optical measurements for biomedical applications, the use of liquid crystal layer properties in optical applications, and shape measurement. He is the author and co-author of scientific papers published in international and national peer-reviewed journals.[1][2][3]

He is a member of the Polish Liquid Crystal Society (in Polish: Polskie Towarzystwo Ciekłokrystaliczne),[4] Photoclub of the Republic of Poland (in Polish: Fotoklub Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej - Stowarzyszenie Twórców, membership no. 534),[5] Polish Nature Photographers Association (in Polish: Związek Polskich Fotografów Przyrody,[6] membership no. His works frequently combine multiple media and forms of expression, including photography, graphics, animation, film, text, and descriptive elements. He creates both abstract images using liquid crystal layers (polarization photomicrography) and representational works. He employs traditional photographic techniques, including silver-based processes, as well as digital techniques with advanced image processing.[citation needed]

He has received numerous awards in national and international photography competitions,[8][9] including twice receiving the OŚ ZPAF Medal (nos. 128 and 134). He has participated in more than a dozen solo and group exhibitions – i.e. permanent exhibitions in Military University of Technology in Warsaw (since 2020) and in Warsaw University of Technology (since 2023).[10] He is the originator of a surrealist architectural photography technique known by the proprietary name geometrywa.[11][12]

Other activities

Sutkowski collaborated with Agencja Akwarium as a jazz photographer, including during the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days festivals.
