Mari Mantela
Mari Mantela (Born 1978 in Keuruu) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter.

Mari Mantela started studying Film at Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia (now Metropolia University of Applied Sciences) in Arts and Communication program, where she majored in camera technique and shooting. Mantela worked as a camera assistant while studying. She has filmed several short films and is the director behind the documentary Hallittua Sattumaa" (Controlled Coincidences). Mantela continued her studies at University of Art and Design Helsinki (now Aalto University School of Arts) in film director program in 2002.[1] In the same year her short film Tuliaisia (Homecoming gifts) was published.
Mantela’s student film Operaatio vieras äly (Operation Alien Intelligence), published in 2004, was bought by Sweden’s television SVT. Two years later, in 2006, Mantela’s student film Lasten kesken (The Children) won the Blue Sea Film Festival’s top prize.[2] Mantela’s En Autobiografi (An Autobiography) is the multiple award-winning short film in several international Film Festivals.[3]
Mari Mantela has directed over 300 commercial films both in her home country Finland and internationally for instance in Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Portugal, Croatia, United Kingdom, and United Arab Emirates.
Mari Mantela is one of the writers of the book MeToo-vallankumous – Kuinka hiljaisuus rikottiin? (Like, 2018) "(MeToo-revolution – How the silence was broken?).[4]
En Autobiografi[edit]
An Autobiografi (2016) is a drama comedy of a woman who tries to retire from the underground garage. Cris Af Enehielm is starring the film as a woman who has an identity crisis. The premier of An Autobiografi was in the Brooklyn Film Festival’s official competition.[5] In 2017, the year after the premier, the film was awarded as the best European film in Reale Film Festival and People’s Choice at the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival.[6] People’s Choice award brought An Autobiography to spreading in Vermont, USA.
An Autobiography was awarded with People’s Choice award both in Los Angeles’ LA Indie Film Festival and in Madrid Film Festival in 2018. In the same year Cris Af Enehielm won the Best Actress award in Montelupo Fiorentino International Film Festival in Italy. Platinum Remi Award was awarded to An Autobiography by 51Th WorldFest Houston Festival in Texas.[7]
