From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Theresia Lynch (full name Maria Theresia Lynch) is a Swedish-born contemporary artist and author based in London. Her multidisciplinary practice spans photography, video, installation, and painting, often exploring autobiographical themes and the relationship between identity and artistic creation.

Early life

Maria Theresia Lynch was born in Sweden. She began her professional career in Stockholm as a fashion model represented by Stockholmsgruppen, a Swedish modelling agency. Alongside her modelling work, she developed an interest in writing and visual media. Lynch later relocated to the United Kingdom, where she continued working across publishing and photography while developing her artistic practice.

Career

Literary work

Lynch made her literary debut in 2000 with Skärvor av mig, a 249-page novel published by Schultz Förlag. The novel explores themes of selfhood and personal narrative.[1] It was selected by journalist Fredrik Virtanen as one of the notable Swedish books of the year in Aftonbladet’s culture section Puls.[2] Following publication, Lynch appeared for two consecutive weeks in the Puls Innelista rankings, placing third.

She later published the poetry collection Spillage Journal (2006; later edition 2015), which combines poetry with visual and conceptual art elements.

Journalism and photography

Lynch worked as a journalist and editorial photographer, contributing to Swedish and UK publications including Chili, Gaudeamus, and the Evening Standard. She also produced editorial and fashion photography for British Vogue, WSJ Magazine, The Telegraph, and the Daily Mail.

Education

Lynch studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London between 2007 and 2010.

Artistic practice

Lynch's artistic practice spans photography, painting, video, and installation. Her work often combines autobiographical themes with conceptual strategies, incorporating symbolic imagery, found objects, and performative elements. Her installations and video works explore identity, mortality, and perception, sometimes employing humour or visual wordplay to challenge conventional narratives of selfhood.
