Marija Zezelj
Marija Žeželj (Serbian cyrillic: Марија Жежељ; born 20 November 1999) also known by her artist name Marija, is a Serbian singer, model, writer and a YouTuber from Novi Sad. Having signed a recording deal.[1] with Universal in mid 2017, she became the youngest solo artist from Serbia to have an exclusive contract with this worldwide music corporation. Her debut single and video “Dance Like Nobody’s Watch[2]ing”, was released on her YouTube VEVO[3] channel and reached over 1,5 million views in five days of its release.[1] Marija started her multidisciplinary career as a model in 2015 as a YouTuber and gradually, while still in her teens, became Serbia’s most influential teenager and wrote a bestseller book by the age of 16.[4]
Just a week after the release of her debut single, Marija was featured on the cover of the Serbian edition of Cosmopolitan.
This Summer, Marija visited Coca-Cola’s WOAH Summer House located in Crete, where she performed a different version of Coke’s “Taste The Feeling“ anthem with Roomie (the famous Swedish singer and influencer) and Abstrachuje TV (the Polish influencer duo).[2]

Marija recalls wanting to be a volleyball player as a child and grew up training volleyball[5], which she did for 7 years. [3]

Marija is a popular YouTube creator with more than 330,000 subscribers and more than 40 million views on her YouTube videos [6]that showcase her lifestyle and her passion for fashion and music.[4]

Debut single "Dance Like Nobody's Watching"[edit]
In February of 2016, Marija and her friend recorded a cover of “Love Yourself”[7]by Justin Bieber which now has more than 1.8 million views. That's when she was noticed by the representatives of Universal Music Group who called her to their office in Vienna to join Austrian songwriter and producer team popmaché[8]. Together, they created a contemporary pop song called “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching”[9]. The track title of her debut finds inspiration in a William W. Purkey quote “You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching/ Love like you'll never be hurt/ Sing like there's nobody listening/ And live like it's heaven on earth” [10]
"Dance Like Nobody's Watching" (Acoustic Version)[edit]
Three weeks after the release of “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching”, Marija released an acoustic version of the song[11]. It premiered on 23 June 2017 on Marija’s official Vevo channel.
"Dance Like Nobody's Watching" popmaché remix[edit]
Andreas Grass and Nikola Paryla, the duo behind the production of Marija's debut song, presented a remix after the acoustic version.
Inspired by working with Marija in the studio and the process of making "Dance Like Nobody's Watching", popmaché decided to make their own version of the song[12].
"Louder Than A Drum"[edit]
Five months after the release of her debut single "Dance Like Nobody's Watching", Marija revealed her sophomore single "Louder Than A Drum"[13]. Marija continued her collaboration with the Austrian duo popmaché who are also behind her musical debut “Dance Like Nobody’s Watch” as well as the acoustic version and the remix of the song.[14]
