Mariestella Cañedo Racal (born September 22, 1997 in Tagum City, Philippines), better known as Maris Racal, is a Filipino actress and singer. Racal gained popularity after entering the Pinoy Big Brother house as a housemate on April 27, 2014 in the fifth regular season, Pinoy Big Brother: All In. She was dubbed as the "Singing Sunshine Ng Davao". She was named 2nd Big Placer in the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: All In.[1].
Career[edit]
In April 2014, she became one of the teen housemates in Pinoy Big Brother: All In, the fifth regular and eleventh overall season of Pinoy Big Brother which showcased various people from celebrities to regular housemates competing for the ultimate title as PBB Big Winner. Racal was declared as '2nd Big Placer' on August 24.[1]
In September 2014, Racal was revealed as the new supporting cast of Hawak-Kamay together with fellow ex-housemates Axel Torres, Manolo Pedrosa and Nichole Baranda, starring Piolo Pascual, Iza Calzado and Nikki Gil.
Her fans are called Mariestellers (Electric fans).
Biography[edit]
Maris Racal was born to parents Henry Racal and Leony Racal. grew up in a musically inclined close-knit family. Both her parents sing and her dad also plays the guitar. But Maris learned how to play the guitar on her own by watching videos on the internet – the same way she learned how to play the piano, ukulele and the beatbox. Besides music, Maris also excels in acting and in dancesport. She is admittedly still in love with her ex-boyfriend whom she had to break up with because her parents found out about their secret relationship.[2]
