Mark Bezos (/ˈbzs/ BAY-zohss)[1] is an American businessman and investor. He is the younger brother of Jeff Bezos, the founder and executive chairman of Amazon.

Early life[edit]

Bezos' parents are Miguel and Jacklyn Bezos. His elder siblings are his brother Jeff Bezos and sister, Christina. He is four years and four months younger than his brother. Bezos, originally from Texas, graduated high school in Norway. The family was mobile when he was a child, having lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Houston and Pensacola, Florida. He graduated from Texas Christian University in 1992, with a degree in advertising and public relations.[2]

Business career[edit]

He has worked as the head of communications at the Robin Hood Foundation.[3]

In 2019, Bezos co-founded Highpost Capital, a private equity group.[4]

He is a board member for various technology companies and is one of the directors of the Bezos Family Foundation.[3]


On July 20, 2021, Mark Bezos flew to the edge of space alongside his brother Jeff, Wally Funk and Oliver Daemen, aboard the Blue Origin NS-16 flight.[5] The suborbital flight lasted over 10 minutes, reaching a peak altitude of 66.5 miles (107.0 km)

Personal life[edit]

Bezos is married with four children. Between 2008 and 2020, he owned a home in Scarsdale, New York.[6]

He has been a volunteer for the Scarsdale Fire Department.[3] In March 2011, Bezos delivered a TED talk concerning his experience as a volunteer firefighter.[7]
