Mark Grenside is a British TV Producer, and media executive, involved in the media industry for over 30 years.

Career in media[edit]

Mark Grenside moved into television in 1980 and became one of the original team of HIT Entertainment, founded as (Jim) Henson International Television Company.[1][2]

At Henson International Television, Grenside was involved in the financing, co-production and distribution of popular TV shows such as The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock, and Dark Crystal. He later formed Crossbow Films, where he acted as producer or executive producer for the TV series (72 episodes) William Tell, originally titled Crossbow (1987) and the thriller series (12 episodes) Mistress of Suspense (1990).

In the 1990s, he founded Homescreen Entertainment, which produced the TV series (22 episodes) Dracula: The Series (1990).

He was an original member of the Hallmark Channel, and in May 2004 formed Sparrowhawk Media, which raised US $250 million to buy Hallmark International and the Hallmark Channel Library (ex-USA), which was later sold to NBC.[3][4][5]

MNG Films[edit]

In 2009, Grenside started MNG Films, which has a slate of nearly US $80 million of television production for SKY, NBC Universal, and The Hallmark Channel.[6] This includes the miniseries Treasure Island (2012), starring Eddie Izzard, Donald Sutherland and Elijah Wood, and Neverland (2011), starring Kiera Knightly.[7][8]
