Early life[edit]

Mark Gross was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. His mother, Doris, (whom his production company, HI MOM PRODUCTIONS[1][not in citation given] is named after) was an elementary teacher at District 61, a one room school house. Gross was the youngest in the family with one brother and sister. Mark Gross attended Lincoln Southeast high school[2] and the University of Nebraska[2] and majored in English and sociology.

Stand up comedian career[edit]

He performed stand up comedy[3] between 1987-2012. Some of his most notable accomplishments as a comedian include being on The Tonight Show[4] in 2000 and 2002. Gross's breakthrough was opening for Howie Mandel in 1996 during his nationwide tour.[5] Mark Gross then wrote for Rodney Carrington and later opened for him on his tour from 2003-2004.[6]

Television career[edit]

Mark Gross was a screenwriter for the TV show Gary Unmarried with Jay Mohr.[7] After the shows two season run, Mark Gross was hired to be a screenwriter and an executive producer[8] for Mike & Molly.[7] After the shows six seasons aired, Mark went on to both develop for CBS and be a screenwriter for Man with a Plan.[7] While writing for Man with a Plan, Mark Gross created his own comedy pilot, Brothered Up.[9] Recently, Gross has written a comedy pilot featuring Pete Holmes as the lead.[10]
