Mark Ronchetti (born October 7, 1973) is an American political candidate and former television broadcaster. Ronchetti is the Republican nominee in the 2020 United States Senate election in New Mexico.[1] Ronchetti defeated two other candidates in the primary and faces 3rd District Congressman and Assistant Speaker of the House to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Ben Ray Luján, in the general election.[2]
Personal life[edit]
Ronchetti attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington and then moved to Colorado, before settling in New Mexico in 1998.
Ronchetti lives in Albuquerque with his wife. They have two children, and attend Sagebrush Church.
Career[edit]
Ronchetti was the chief meteorologist for KRQE, the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[3]
Political positions[edit]
According to the candidate's website and activities throughout the primary campaign, Ronchetti supports the Trump administration agenda broadly. Further, Ronchetti specifically seeks to lower taxes, secure the Mexican-American border, protect Second Amendment rights, and address growing rates of crime. He opposes the Green New Deal and Medicare-for-All, but supports maintaining the protection for individuals with preexisting conditions. He is pro-life.[4]
