Mark Jay Tippetts Brown (born August 11, 1959) is an American international legal and business consultant who served as a council member on the Lago Vista City Council from November 2016 to November 2017. Shortly after losing his re-election bid to former Coca-Cola sales executive David Williams[1], Tippetts announced his candidacy for Governor of Texas in the 2018 gubernatorial election as a Libertarian. On April 16, 2018, Tippetts bested three rivals in a four-way race to secure the Libertarian nomination for Texas Governor.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

Tippetts was born on August 11, 1959 in Casas Grandes, Mexico. He received his M.L. from Washington University in St. Louis and his MBA and LL.B from Universidad Abierta in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

Political activities[edit]

Tippetts' first bid for office came in 2010 when he unsuccessfully ran for Travis County Judge in Texas, representing the Libertarian Party. In November 2016, Tippetts was appointed to serve on Place 1 on the Lago Vista City Council. He served for one year before being defeated in his re-election bid by Dave Williams.

Personal life[edit]

Tippetts is currently married to Jeri Beck Tippetts and resides in Lago Vista, Texas. Tippetts has six children with four from his current marriage.
