Established in 2001, Markerstudy is a privately-held and private-equity backed company with a portfolio of insurance broking businesses.

Timeline[edit]

2001[edit]

Founded by Kevin Spencer and Gary Humphreys.

2011[edit]

Markerstudy Group acquires selected assets from the liquidation of Auto Windscreens including the use of the brand name.[1]

2013 - 2014[edit]

Lancaster Insurance, Sureterm Direct, BDML Connect, Delta Underwriting and join the Markerstudy Group.[2]

2015 – 2016[edit]

Markerstudy Group acquire Lloyd’s insurer Chaucer’s UK motor business, Lionheart Insurance Services, The Policy Shop, Ultimate Insurance Solutions and AA Auto Windshields.

Chaucer Direct is rebranded as Geoffrey Insurance Services.[3]

2017 - 2018  [edit]

Markerstudy Retail and Affinity Division created to develop a new operational structure to add an additional layer of expertise and to complement business development opportunities within Retail and its Affinity partnerships.

Qatar Re purchase Markerstudy’s Gibraltar based underwriting businesses.[4]

Markerstudy creates Markerstudy Insurance Services Limited (MISL), now the largest MGA in the UK. Currently supporting a large number of insurance broking partners, it offers a range of motor and home products. MISL is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

2020[edit]

Markerstudy Group acquire Co-op Insurance’s underwriting business and commenced a 13-year partnership to provide home and motor insurance products under the Co-op brand.[5]

2021[edit]

HFW advise Markerstudy Group on Brightside acquisition.[6]

Pollen Street partners with Markerstudy Group with £200m investment.[7]

2022[edit]

CVC Credit support Markerstudy on Clegg Gifford and BGL Insurance acquisitions.[8]

BGL Insurance acquisition completed in May 2022.
