Marlo Hampton is an American television personality best known for playing herself on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, where she has appeared as a cast member and guest since 2011. She is also a web personality,[1] fashion designer and stylist,[2] lifestyle expert, businesswoman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.[3]

Personal life[edit]

Hampton was born in Clearwater, Florida and was raised by her mother with a younger sister[citation needed] and brother Curtis Willis Jr.[4] and two older sisters[according to whom?] Marlo left home at age 9, and entered the foster care system in Florida, alternately living between group homes and various families, ultimately landing with the Hopkins family in St. Petersburg, Florida. marlo hamptons real name is latoya hutchinson[5]

She graduated from first coast high school in 2005.[5] She earned a Bachelor of Arts from University of South Florida, where she studied social work and interdisciplinary science.[citation needed]

After university,[6] she then became a stylist, business owner, TV personality, and entrepreneur, recently founding a fashion company inspired by her 102-year old foster grandmother Arrie Holmes, launching in the spring of 2019.[7]

She lives in jacksonville, florida and is in a relationship.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Though she is best known for playing herself on the Bravo TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hampton has also appeared on multiple television shows including Bravo's I Dream of Nene.

Hampton is a cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta appearing as herself as a regular and guest since 2011, recently wrapping season 11.

She was also a cast member of I Dream of Nene: The Wedding, a reality documentary series on Bravo.[8]

Hampton is also a YouTube style expert, hosting and executive producing Marlo’s Closet,[9] a series featuring interviews with lifestyle, fashion, and beauty trendsetters and how-to segments on style, beauty, and life, with a weekly digital segment "Ask Marlo".[10]

Fashion and lifestyle[edit]

While appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hampton fielded questions from fans on how she achieved her knack and flair for style and how they could do the same. She then established the multi-city fashion seminar, the Art of Style Tour to inspire aspiring fashion designers and stylists, while also educating the everyday woman on fashion tips.[11]

Hampton served as the Style Ambassador for the 10th Annual Atlanta International Fashion Week in 2016.[12]

Business ventures[edit]

Hampton owned the Red Carpet Boutique at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta.[13]

Hampton is launching a new fashion and lifestyle brand called Arrie & Emma inspired by her foster grandmother Arrie Holmes and her biological mother Emma, in the spring of 2019. The collection will start with sunglasses and jewelry, eventually expanding to include home décor, accessories and more.[2]

Philanthropy[edit]

Hampton founded Glam It UP!, an empowerment program for young girls in the foster system, that provides guidance, support, and life skills to enhance self-esteem and set a foundation for personal and professional pride and success.[14]

Hampton established Glam it UP!, a 501c3 foundation in 2011 to encourage, empower, and mentor young girls in the foster care system, helping them to rise above their circumstances and to achieve personal and professional success.[15]. Through programs and events, Glam It Up teaches and fosters confidence, self-esteem, responsibility, and leadership, encourages a commitment to academic and economic success, and offers entrepreneurial and life skills including financial management and stability, while also teaching the importance of fashion, style, beauty, and personal and home hygiene.[Glam it UP Event 1]

Simply Giving[edit]

Hampton created the Simply Giving initiative providing humanitarian assistance to needy families during the holiday season. 2018 will mark the 7th year that Hampton has provided Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas presents to over families in the Atlanta area.[16]

Foster care advocate[edit]

Hampton is committed to raising awareness of the foster care system by providing information through the Glam it UP! program and public appearances.[17].

In an interview that Hampton gave to Jet Magazine, Hampton shared that she feels a kindred spirit with young girls in the foster system when she said, "I can relate to these girls more. I wish I had my mom I could be with. I want them to see nice things and know that they can have that too. I want them to see if Marlo can do it, then so can we." - Marlo Hampton[Jet Magazine 1]
