Marsela Mari Dela Cruz Guia also known as Sela Guia (マルセラ マリー ギーア, Marusera marī gīa, born April 28,2000, in Laguna, Philippines) is a Filipino Idol debuted on April 2018 and an official member of the all-girl Filipino idol group MNL48[1] [2] which is the Philippine chapter of Japanese pop group phenomenon AKB48.[3] Sela Guia is part of MNL48's first generation members. She ranked 3rd on the First MNL48 Senbatsu election that was announced at the noontime show It's Showtime on April 14, 2018[4]. She ranked 2nd on the Second MNL48 Senbatsu Election on April 27, 2019. 2016–2018: Formation[edit]

Sela auditioned in the nationwide search for the members of AKB48's Filipino sister group MNL48, from more than a thousand applicants, Sela Guia is lucky enough to be part of the Top 200 girls announced on "its showtime" in january 2018, and was still part of the top 100 that was announced a week after.[6] Sela also topped MNL48's week 10 auditions. [7]

At the age of 17, Sela became a member of MNL48's first generation. She's a part of Team L, a sub team which is composed of 16 girls and debuted on April 28, 2018.[8]

In 2018, Sela ranked 3rd on the first MNL48 General Elections, which is described as a popularity contest. As a result, Sela was part of the group's first ever senbatsu and is part of the Kami 7 (GOD 7),[9] [10] together with the first MNL48 center girl Sheki Arzaga, Abby Trinidad, Christine Coloso, Zennae Inot, Alice de Leon and Trixie Tano.[10] [11]

2018: Aitakatta-Gustong Makita and Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie[edit]

On August 13, 2018, MNL48 has finally announced the release of their debut single under starmagic Aitakatta-Gustong makita[12] , a tagalized version of an AKB48 song of the same title [12], which is sung by the top 16 members also known as the senbatsu, in which Sela was included. After 3 months, on November 5, 2018 a new batch of senbatsu was announced for their second single Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie. Sela was still part of the new senbatsu on the same rank (#3) [13] On November 25, 2018 the MV for the said single was released. [14]

On December 11, AKS announced that the group will join the "AKB48 Group Asia Festival 2019" event on January 27, 2019 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand after BNK48's 6th Single Senbatsu General Election. MNL48 will perform with their sister groups AKB48, JKT48, BNK48, AKB48 Team SH, AKB48 Team TP and SGO48. Sela was one of the 10 members choosen to be part of the said concert together with members Abby, Brei, Coleen, Faith, Gabb, Jem, Mari, Rans and Sheki.[15]

2019–present: AKB48 Asia Festival,365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel and The Second General Election[edit]

On January 26, 2019, Sela performs for the first time outside the country with some of her co-MNL48 members at the "AKB48 Group Asia Festival 2019" event on January 27, 2019 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand after BNK48's 6th Single Senbatsu General Election. MNL48 performed with their sister groups AKB48, JKT48, BNK48, AKB48 Team SH, AKB48 Team TP and SGO48.[15] Sela was so delighted with the interactions she had with her international sister. [16]

On February 26, MNL48's third single 365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel senbatsu(top 16) was announced, Sela's rank decreased by 1 which makes her the top 4 following Sheki as center girl, Rans as 2nd and Brei as 3rd. On April 5, 2019, Their 3rd Single "365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel’s MV was released on YouTube.[17] On April 6, 2019, MNL48 held their first ever concert at the New Frontier Theater (formerly Kia Theater) near Araneta Coliseum.[18] Sela and her co-members rocked the whole theatre with various perfomances.

On April 27, 2019, the group celebrates its 1st anniversary back-to-back with the 2nd General Election where all 77 members over 2 generations competing for Top 48 spots.[19] Sela ranked 2nd following Aly as the center girl. [20]

On June 8,2019 MNL48's 3rd single B-side Igai ni Mango (Originally SKE48's 21st single) MV was Released on Youtube. This is a Team L song in which Sela belongs. Sela also Centered this Summer song.[21]

Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie earned for MNL48 its first Gold and Platinum awards from Star Music and the Philippine Association of Record Industries (PARI).[25]
