Martin Popplewell
Martin Popplewell is an English journalist and broadcaster.
Early life and education
Popplewell was born in and attended school in Cambridge.[1][2] He was educated at University College London, from which he obtained a degree in zoology.[3]
At 18, Popplewell spent several months living on the uninhabited island of Patongros, in the Federated States of Micronesia, having been inspired to do so by watching the film The Blue Lagoon.[4]
Journalism career
Popplewell began his career as a journalist on the BBC's news trainee scheme.
Popplewell has presented the news on Five, BBC News and Sky News. He has reported for ITN and worked as a political reporter for the BBC's On the Record.
In 2019, Popplewell appeared on BBC Radio 4's Great Lives, discussing Robinson Crusoe.[5]
Personal life
Popplewell has written travel features for The Times.
