Martine Lachance

Martine Lachance is Professor and Researcher in the Department of Juridical Sciences of the Faculty of Political Science and Law,[1] at Université du Québec à Montréal. Founder and Director of the Research Group on International Research in Animal Law (GRIDA), she is one of the few specialists on the legal status and welfare of animals in Canada.

Under her direction direction, GRIDA organised the first International Symposium on Animal Law in Canada in 2009: "The Animal Within the Sphere of Human Needs",[2] "Does the Law Consider Animal Suffering?" [3] in 2011 and "Animal Suffering: From Science to Law"[4] in 2013.
