Massimo Del Frate
Massimo Del Frate (born March 3, 1959) is an Italian TV producer.
Massimo Del Frate was born in Milan, where he attended high school at Liceo Scientifico Leonardo da Vinci. He entered the University of Pavia to take up philosophy and literature, writing his thesis about film critics and history. After earning his degree, he attended the Civica Scuola di Cinema "Luchino Visconti" in Milan. He lives in Milan with his wife and two children, and works between Milan and Rome.
Career[edit]
Mediaset (1985-2002)[edit]
Massimo Del Frate started his career in TV industry in 1985 as Editor cinema programming for Mediaset's channels Canale 5, Italia 1 and Rete 4.
He became Head of Canale 5 Scripted Programming in 1991.[1][2]
In 1998 he took on the role of Head of Mediaset's Drama Department as responsible of the editorial supervision of the channel's original drama productions (series, mini-series and TV-movie for the prime-time, soap-opera[3][4] and sit-coms for the daily day-time).
He left the Italian commercial broadcaster in 2002.
Endemol Italia and Endemol Shine Italy (2002-2018)[edit]
In June 2002 Massimo Del Frate joined Endemol Italia as Head of Drama productions and grew the Company scripted division to become one of the leading TV drama production entities in the Italian market. He created a wide range of scripted shows including TV-movie, sit-coms, soap-operas, and several multi-season prime-time series of Rai 1 and Canale 5.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Banijay Studios Italy (2018-)[edit]
In June 2018 Massimo Del Frate took on the role of Head of Drama at Banijay Studios Italy, a newly founded independent production company that operates in Italy under Banijay Group umbrella with the mission to create innovative and high-quality drama for Italian broadcasters Rai, Mediaset, Sky and OTT platforms and international co-productions projects.[14][15][16][17][18]
