Massimo Gallotta is an Italian-American concert producer and founder of Massimo Gallotta Productions LTD, also known as MGP Live.

Biography[edit]

From 1976 to 2006, Massimo Gallotta produced and promoted live music events across Italy and Europe for both Italian and international artists including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles,[1] Ennio Morricone, Joe Cocker and Caetano Veloso with whom he played several shows across archaeological sites in Italy.

In 2006, Gallotta founded Massimo Gallotta Productions LTD in New York City with a focus on promoting Italian culture and music internationally. In February 2007, Gallotta produced Ennio Morricone’s first North American tour which premiered at the Radio City Music Hall.[2] The concert was also performed at the United Nations’ welcoming ceremony for Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.[3] [4]

Since 2007 Gallotta has produced the North American debut concerts for Italian artists including Pino Daniele[5], Roberto Benigni,[6] Edoardo Bennato and many others.

In December 2008, Gallotta produced the Labelle reunion concert tour with Patti Labelle, Nona Hendryx and Sarah Dash at the Apollo Theater in New York City.[7][8] This was the group’s first public concert since January 1977.[9][10]

In February 2012, Gallotta produced the Angelique Kidjo concert “Raise Your Voice to End Female Genital Mutilation” at the United Nations General Assembly Hall, in cooperation with the Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations and UNICEF.[11] [12]

Since 2015, Gallotta has been producing concert tours of live video game music including The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses featuring music from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series,[13] [14]and Distant Worlds: Music From Final Fantasy featuring music from Square Enix's Final Fantasy series.[15] Both shows toured worldwide.[13][15] Assassin’s Creed Symphony, featuring the music of Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed video game series[16] has toured in both North America and Europe.[17] [18]
