Matiss Kivlenieks is an ice-hockey goaltender currently playing for the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect, while under contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing career

Prizma Riga

Starting in the 2011–2012 season, Kivlenieks only played one game with Prizma Riga, with a GAA of 9.52. He also played in the junior leagues, like the Latvia U18 and the U16 leagues. He stayed with the club until the end of the 2012–2013 season. [1]

International Play

For a lot of Kivlenieks' career, he has played in the International Junior Leagues. He played a total of 22 games with them.

Cleveland Monsters

Starting in the 2017–2018 season, Kivlenieks played in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters. In his first year, he had a .891 Sv%, in 2018–19, he had a .873 Sv%, and so far in Cleveland he has a .903 Sv%.

Columbus Blue Jackets

On May 25, 2017, Kivlenieks signed a 3-year, entry-level contract. He has played with the Cleveland Monsters for a good portion of his career in Columbus. However, he has been called up twice so Elvis Merzlikins could go down and play for the Monsters. [2] [3]
