In August 2022, Sergio Scariolo appointed Cassinerio as assistant coach at Virtus Segafredo Bologna, where he was responsible for video analysis of the Italian league and the individual development of players.[4] He was retained by Luca Banchi and subsequently Dušan Ivanović when they each took charge of the team.
During his three seasons in Bologna, Virtus won the Italian Supercup in September 2022, defeating Dinamo Sassari 72–69,[5] the Italian Supercup in September 2023, defeating Germani Brescia 97–60,[6] and the Italian Championship in June 2025, defeating Germani Brescia 3–0 in the playoff final.[7]
