Matthew Foldi (born August 3, 1996) is a Maryland-based conservative journalist who previously worked at the Washington Free Beacon.[1] His stories cover education, the Biden administration, and foreign policy. He is a Republican Candidate candidate for Congress in Maryland's 6th Congressional District.[2] Foldi regularly appears on Newsmax and Fox News.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Foldi attended attended the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 2014.[3] While in college at the University of Chicago, he was elected at age 19 as Ward Committeeman, becoming the youngest elected official in Chicago history.[4][5] His parents are Paul Foldi, a former American diplomat and Bonnie Glick a former Donald Trump Administration Deputy Administrator/COO of the United States Agency for International Development.
Career[edit]
After graduating college, Foldi relocated temporarily to Israel where he worked on Caroline Glick’s 2019 campaign for the Knesset. Returning to Maryland, he then worked at the Congressional Leadership Fund during the 2020 election cycle, helping the Republican Party gain seats in the House of Representatives.
In 2021, Foldi began writing for the Washington Free Beacon where he covered stories related to political corruption, energy independence, law enforcement, Israel, and education. He has appeared on frequently on Fox News, including on Tucker Carlson Tonight and Maria Bartiromo. He is currently running for the United States House of Representatives in Maryland's 6th congressional district. He has targeted incumbent Congressman David Trone for keeping his offices closed, and has advocated for cutting spending to fight inflation, increased scrutiny of corruption in the U.S government, and for pro police policies as a part of his back the blue agenda.
