Matthew (Matt) Jones is a co-founder and host of the popular radio show and blog Kentucky Sports Radio. Jones was born and raised in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He completed his undergraduate education at Transylvania Univeristy in Lexington, Kentucky. Despite being an avid fan of Kentucky sports, Jones opted to attend law school at Duke University. After receiving his degree, he began practicing law in Mentucky.
During his early years of practicing law, Jones and his close friends began publishing a blog and a series of podcasts under the title Kentucky Sports Radio. The blog rapidly increased in popularity and Jones eventually began hosting a broadcasted radio show called Kentucky Sports Radio. It’s popularity radpily increased and is now broadcasted by many radio stations throughout Kentucky and southern Ohio.
Jones co-hosts include former Kentucky Wesleyan baseball star and local sports reporter Ryan Lemmond, producer Shannon the Dude (formerly of the band Alice Blue Gown), and comedian and writer Drew Franklin.
Jones is well known to have liberal views and supporter of the Democratic Party, despite having an audience that is largely conservative. However, he consistently promotes bipartisanship and is critical of current political leaders, including Mitch McConnell and Kentucky governor Matt Bevin.
Jones’s popularity eventually culminated in the opening of a restaurant, KSBar (a play on the blog and radio show KSR—Kentucky Sports Radio). He is well known for having a distinct nose whistle as well as not knowing how to swim.
