Matthew Jacobs Morgan

Matthew Jacobs Morgan is an actor and award-winning filmmaker. As an actor he is best known for his roles in My Almost Famous Family, Cuffs, Love Nina and Wasted. He also originated the role of Branwell Brontë in the rock musical Wasted at the Southwark Playhouse.

Matthew made his first short film GRACIE in 2014. It stars Kate Dickie (COUPLE IN A HOLE, THE WITCH), Rakie Ayola (HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD) and Angela Wynter (WONDROUS OBLIVION). It was funded by B3 Media and IdeasTap and received a TV broadcast on London Live. Winner of Best Film at Leeds Young Film Festival and Fresh Faced Film Festival. Winner of Best Actress at Solo Para Cortos Film Festival. Official selection: Aruba Film Festival, Regina International Film Festival, San Francisco Black Film Festival, Roxbury International Film Festival, Solo Para Cortos, Triforce Film Festival, Västerås Film Festival, BFI Future Film Festival.

He is an alumni of both Channel 4 Screenwriting and BFI Flare Mentorship, for which he was selected in 2018. His mentor is award-winning writer/director John Cameron Mitchell.

Matthew’s first feature film MINE, an intense family drama about post-natal depression in a same-sex couple is in development with BFI with executive producer Mary Burke and Joy Gharoro Akpojotor. It is based on a short film by the same name which was selected for Inside Out Toronto, Aesthetica Short Film Festival, image+nation festival LGBTQ Montreal and Side by Side St. Petersburg. MINE will be distributed by Peccadillo Pictures in 2019.

Matthew is developing a TV series with Warp Films called THE BIG GAME. Matthew’s other TV development deals include QUIET COMMOTION with Kudos, produced by Karen Wilson, THE ALLROOM with Bonafide TV. Matthew received his first broadcast credit writing for Hollyoaks for Channel 4.
