Matthew "Matt Charles" Prozialeck (also known as Matt Charles & Matt Prozialeck) is an American Blues Harmonica player and Singer. Born September 3, 1989 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known for being a member of Erin Harpe & the Delta Swingers and his work as a sideman[1] He primarily plays Chicago Blues.

Background

Matthew Prozialeck grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois.[2] He graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2013. He played trumpet as a kid. He never played the harmonica until he lived in the college art dormitory.[3]

Career

He took harmonica up at age 18 after hearing Howlin’ Wolf, The Yardbirds, Muddy Waters & The Paul Butterfield Blues Band on the radio.[4] He started playing professionally in college. He learned to play the harmonica and played around the local blues scene for years. In 2015 Prozialeck relocated to Boston, Massachusetts to join the band Erin Harpe & The Delta Swingers. The Delta Swingers toured nationally and were semifinalists in the International Blues Challenge in 2017. At the age of 27 he was the second youngest harmonica player in the competition and the youngest to reach the semifinals that year. His first album with the Delta Swingers, Big Road was released on Vizztone in October of 2017 to positive reviews[5] and chart performance[6]. In a review of the album by Daniel Pavlica of The Rocktologist, his playing was recognized and the reviewer said he played with poignancy and lusty confidence.[7] Two albums he has played on have made national blues charts [8] A 2018 article in Blues Blast Magazine described Prozialeck the band's "secret weapon" [9] 'In November 2017 he became an official endorser for Seydel Harmonicas [10]. The Delta Swingers were Nominated for a Boston Music Award during his final year with them in 2018 [11]
