Matthew William F. Senior (born October 15, 1998) is a visionary English artist, film director,[1] musician,[2] writer,[3] and fashion designer.[4] He is the founder and creative director of NOT ENOUGH KNIFE,[5] the art studio under which he releases primarily independent films, music, art, and apparel.
Personal Life[edit]
A self-taught film producer, writer and multi-instrumentalist, and professionally-taught photographer, Senior was born in Plymouth, England. He grew up creating unreleased short home videos with friends. In 2015, after adapting a short story from Emmy-Award-winning author D.M. Larson, Senior created the company NOT ENOUGH KNIFE, a multi-faceted creative outlet for film, music, clothing and writing, which would respectively release work under the following divisions: INTEGRAL, PROSPERITY, PARADIGM and IMPERIAL. The following year, he directed his debut feature film titled The Boy Who Commits a Murder at the age of 16, which was released through Amazon Prime Video, as well as on Blu-ray. Later that year, Senior created The Operator, a short film created in collaboration with Grammy nominated musicians Elysian Fields (band), BBC Broadcaster Zulfi Mirza and Tom Holland's cousin James Holland. In 2017, Senior released 'william.', a short film based on his now-late grandfather William Henry Senior, a head chef and lead boxing instructor who served on the HMS Ark Royal R09 during the creation of BBC's Sailor (TV series), cooking for the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, The Queen Mother, American presidents and more.[6] In 2018, he began studying BA (Hons) Film at Arts University Plymouth, which he graduated from in 2020. Senior has also achieved over thirty qualifications from prestigious establishments worldwide, as well as a black belt diploma in the martial art Ju-Jitsu. In 2019, he registered NOT ENOUGH KNIFE as a limited company, based in Plymouth, Kensington and Los Angeles.[7] That same year he helped Andrew-Lee Potts fund the short film Kindred, released goya (his fourth film - a social experiment blending reality with fiction), released the EP automatic tuning (a concept project chronicling a relationship from beginning to end) and launched his clothing line. Senior launched UPSTREAM in 2021 and CYLINDER in 2022, the photography and digital art divisions of NOT ENOUGH KNIFE. Senior steadily released art galleries under CYLINDER throughout 2022, 2023 and 2024 whilst working on new music, before relocating from Kensington to Central London in preparation for his debut studio album 'What Dreams Are Made Of'.
Senior's most popular film william. currently has over 112,000 views on Vimeo, whilst his self-produced debut EP automatic tuning reached over 25,500 streams, across 26 countries, in six months on Spotify.[8] In 2021, Senior announced via his verified Instagram account that he was taking a break from film to focus on music, photograph curation, philanthropy, and digital art.
