Founded in 1997, MaxGrip is headquartered in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The company is fully owned by its employees[3]. Notable customers include Heineken[4], Shell[5], Vopak, Abbott Pharmaceuticals, Hibiscus, FedEx, Pemex, Peru LNG[6] , TenneT[7], Victrex[8] and Waternet[9]. MaxGrip's main activities include improving asset performance, deploying Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) and APM software solutions[10], and managing asset integrity. MaxGrip operates independently, collaborating with various software partners[11]. MaxGrip has been recognized in the Verdantix Green Quadrant report as a leading provider of industrial asset management technology implementation consulting services.[12] Since 2022, Mark Mulder has served as CEO of MaxGrip[3]
History[edit]
Early Years (1997 - 2007)[edit]
MaxGrip was established in December 1997 by three founders, including Jakob Boelens, who remains active as a senior partner and board advisor. Initially, the company developed maintenance concepts and provided maintenance management services, primarily for Dutch clients. Another division of the company focused on optimizing maintenance reliability and safety. In 2000, MaxGrip expanded its services to include asset management[13]. The company acquired MaintControl in 2007. This developer for specialized maintenance and asset performance software, including Optimizer+[14], had already been partnering with MaxGrip.
Global Expansion (2007 - 2018)[edit]
In the following years, MaxGrip focused on expanding its business. The company worked for several international clients in the Netherlands, who subsequently sought to use MaxGrip's services abroad as well[3]. This led to the establishment of an office in Houston, USA in January 2012[15]. Later that year, in May, MaxGrip expanded to Singapore as well. This was followed by the establishment of MaxGrip APAC in Malaysia in February 2013. These initiatives led to significant revenue growth in the initial years[16]. In January 2017, MaxGrip expanded to Australia and it opened an office in Germany in April 2018.
Focus on Consultancy (2019 - 2024)[edit]
In 2019 the software assets of MaxGrip were acquired by AVEVA, a partner of MaxGrip since 2017[17]. MaxGrip's software assets, including Optimizer+, strEAM+, and APMSmartApps, offered specialized APM modules for EAM systems. After the sale of the software assets, MaxGrip focused entirely on consultancy and deployment services in APM. In 2023, MaxGrip expanded its leadership team to support its global growth ambitions[18].
Services[edit]
Asset Performance Improvement[edit]
MaxGrip developed the Asset Improvement Program to assist clients in assessing and enhancing Asset Performance Management[19]. he program consists of three stages. The first stage, Asset Improvement Mapping (AIM), is the most well-known, having been applied by MaxGrip over 150 times in the past sixteen years[19]. The assessment evaluates the current status and maturity of an organization's asset performance management across fourteen competencies, including maintenance execution, asset reliability, and management[20]. The second stage is the Asset Improvement Deployment (AID) in which recommendations for improvement are deployed. The last stage is the Asset Improvement Rollout, in which efforts are scaled up to multi-site or multinational level.
EAM System Deployment[edit]
Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems are used by companies to manage the maintenance of physical assets throughout their lifecycle. This enables easier monitoring, inspecting and the maintaining of assets[21]. MaxGrip is experienced in several EAM software solutions including SAP, IBM Maximo, IFS[22] and IFS Ultimo[23] [24]. MaxGrip was chosen as the IFS Ultimo Channel Partner of the year 2022 and Implementation Partner of the Year 2024 due to the large number of certified consultants, their proactive marketing approach and several successful joint projects[25]
Digital Transformation[edit]
Industry 4.0 is the fourth industrial revolution that comprises the current trend of automation and data interconnection[26]. MaxGrip supports their clients in the adoption and deployment of industry 4.0 solutions. This includes Connected Frontline Worker solutions[27] and Predictive Maintenance[28]. MaxGrip combines domain expertise with change management capabilities. This has also been recognized by research firm LNS Research as an important added value for the market. They pointed out that there is many technology available but that companies are struggling to equip employees to adopt these new systems and tools[29]. A notable partnership with Cenosco in 2024 is aimed at boosting asset integrity management capabilities[30]
