Max Opalski’s racing career started at the age of five when he began racing kid-karts near his home in Chicago, Illinois. The 2016 season saw the Opalski family move from Illinois to Colorado, and Max’s career begin to rise moving from a regional level karting effort to a country wide national level program. He competed at events such as the United States Rotax Grand Nationals in Las Vegas and eventually moved to the Superkarts USA Pro Tour. Earning top ten results in 2018 in events across the country, Max and his family made another step in 2019 and made the commitment to a career in motorsports Competing nearly every race weekend, the results began to come for Max. Qualifying at the front of the field, earning podium and solid race results, the end of the 2019 saw Max earn the biggest karting win of his career. Entering the Streets of Lancaster in Lancaster, California, Opalski was one of several drivers competing in the two available Junior classes. Dominating the weekend, Max earned the class victories in both divisions, and a huge boost of confidence in his motorsports career[7]. In October that same year, Opalski competed in the largest karting event in the world, the Superkarts! USA SuperNationals. Again, racing in two separate classes, Opalski earned a top five result in on class that featured fifty drivers[8] and a tenth-place result in the other that saw more than eighty drivers compete. Continuing his karting career through 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic put the brakes on much of the season until late that year, however, the break did not hurt Opalski, returning to the seat in August of 2020, Max earned multiple pole positions[9], heat race wins and national level podium results[10]. Moving to the United States Pro Kart Series in 2021 and the competitive Senior ranks, Opalski’s results did not slowdown in any way. In the six-race series, Max never finished outside the top five earning two race wins and four podium results before qualifying on the pole position and earning a second-place result at the prestigious ROK the RIO event in Las Vegas[11]. 2021 saw Opalski begin his transition from karts to cars[12]. Competing in six major races, Max was able to continue to build his skills and experiences. Throughout the season, Max joined Copeland Motorsports at several Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup races to prep for the 2022 season[13][14]. At the end of January 2022 Max completed his first ever Global MX-5 Cup race at Daytona.[15] Getting a couple of top tens[16] here and there made him feel ready for 2023[17][18][19][20]. His first pro race of the year went really well, qualifying in the top 3 and finishing 5th.[21] The race after that at the Firestone Grand Prix at St pete he also had lots of speed, driving in the top five until he had a car failure. At Road America later that year Max got his first pole position and first podium[22][23]. Max carried that momentum into VIR where he was fighting for the win the whole race. The last race of 2023 was at the Petit Le Mans which had him finishing on the podium against some of the best drivers[24]. Max finished the 2023 MX5 Cup championship 4th.[25] During the off season heading into 2024 I made the decision to run the Ford Dark Horse Mustang Challenge. He created his own team to run in it[26], and ran many hours in testing in a FP350 mustang at multiple tracks. He also started a coaching career during the off season coaching on the sim with students who would be competing in the Mustang Challenge. Round 1 and 2 of the Mustang Challenge season was a learning curve for max and his team, but came back strong a The Glen showing fast pace[27]. Bringing that pace into the famous Road America[28] where max finished inside the top 5[29]. The rest of the season took place at Circuits of the Americas[30] and Indianapolis Motor Speedway[31] before wrapping up the season in 5th. [32]
