Maximilian Edward Johnson (born 18 March 1985) is a British banker, entrepreneur, freelance travel writer, and actor. He is a Partner at TTB Partners, a Co-Founder of Platinum Fitness, a Contributing Editor to Refined Travellers, and a Director of Intrigue Pictures. Max is also a Leading Light for a British Council initiative Generation UK: China Network.

He lives and works in Hong Kong.

Origins and early life[edit]

Maximilian Edward Johnson was born on 18th March 1985 in Brussels, Belgium, to Stanley and Jennifer Johnson. The youngest of his father's six children.

At the age of 5, Max moved to Oxford with his parents where he attended the Dragon School until 9, then moved to London in 1994 to attend the day school The Hall. While at The Hall he was chosen to act in a BBC Production of The Prince and The Pauper (1996) which gave him his first taste of the Entertainment industry.[1]

Max was then educated at Eton (1998-2003), has a B.A with Honours in Russian with Polish from Christ Church College, University of Oxford (2003-2007), an M.B.A from Tsinghua University in Beijing (2007-2009), and a Certificate in Management from MIT (2007-2009).[2]

Work and interests[edit]

After graduating from his MBA as the 1st British citizen to have done so, Max spent 3 years in Beijing working as the Business Development Manager for the British metals trader Wogen Resources (2010-2012).[3]. He then spent 4 years at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong as an Investment Banker executing a wide range of transactions across many industries (2013-2016). Now Max is a Partner at TTB Partners, a boutique M&A advisory business, headquartered in Hong Kong. [4]

An investment banker by profession, Max is also a businessman with a wide range of interests including real estate investments, fitness clubs, and film production. During his MBA he interned at the United Nations and successfully passed the National Competitive Recruitment Examinations and is part of the Young Professionals Programme.

During his time studying in Russia and China, Max traveled extensively and among other experiences became the 1st British citizen to run the North Korean marathon. [5]. He also developed his skills as a published travel writer and blogger and he is Contributing Editor for Refined Travellers. [6]. He also continues to act as an amateur.

He speaks fluent Russian, Polish and French and Mandarin and is a keen practitioner of Taekwondo (Red-Black belt currently) and tennis. He was once Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and is currently a Leading Light for the British Council China initiative.[7]
